Sunny Garden in Bromley

The clients wanted an attractive garden to view from the conservatory, with ample terrace space. They wanted to retain the three levels and incorporate low maintenance planting with additional winter interest.

The terrace was extended into a wide semicircle, paved with natural sandstone. The view of the brick retaining wall from the conservatory was softened with evergreen lavender surrounded with summer perennials.

Sandstone steps lead to the second level. The circular island border is planted with mature shrubs and perennials to give all year interest. The left hand path leads to a shady terrace flanked with mature trees and shrubs, to give privacy, and fragrant climbers and perennials.

The third level contains the conifer trees, kept for privacy, and was retained with new oak sleepers. This shady level was planted with dry shade tolerant plants like ferns and foxgloves.
