RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2007

Silver-gilt medal for an exhibit of roof garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2007

In 2007, the RHS introduced the new category of Roof Garden to the Chelsea Flower Show. The DHL Sun Chariot Garden highlights the many possibilities of gardening on a roof space and embraces all weathers expected in this lofty location.

The main feature is a large curvaceous seat made from slatted oak to baffle the wind. This, and a matching table, sit on a turntable allowing you to rotate with ease. Follow the sun across the sky or turn away and the high back casts a shadow. Enjoy the views of the cityscape or create a private space.

The seating area is surrounded by drought tolerant plants in 200mm of soil. Grasses and perennials in shades of blue and cream gently waft in the breeze, sheltered by the glass balustrade.

The DHL Sun Chariot Garden was designed by Andrew Marson of Bespoke Gardens, in close association with Sheila Hassock Garden Design and crowe garden design. A range of Sun Chariot furniture is now available at www.sunchariotfurniture.co.uk.
