Front Garden in Lambeth

The residence is a converted church on a busy thoroughfare with the garden at the front. The clients wanted easy and safe access to the front door as well as privacy for the rest of the garden.

Privacy was gained by a yew hedge within the low walls. Through the gates the eye is drawn to a contemporary sculpture centred in a parterre with bright annuals and perennials. The wide welcoming path leads to the gothic front door.

Close to the house, and in a sunny position, is a York stone terrace surrounded by tall, bright perennials and fragrant herbs. A perfect location for dining al fresco.

From here, the path snakes its way to the shady area under the existing London plane trees, ending with a lawned area and a secret gazebo. This area is planted with cool, texturous, shade loving perennials and shrubs.
